Ukrainian couples usually have one to two children, and it remains a somewhat low average number of children per family in Europe. While families have become smaller it is still at the center of the Ukrainian culture, and it is quite common for grandparents to be actively caring for grandchildren and participating in their education. Parents tend to demand a better behavior, in public and at school, and can be perceived as stricter than the normal across Western culture.
Ukrainian au pairs will usually have child care experience through private babysitting of younger siblings and relatives, kids in their neighborhood, etc.
The procedure to obtain a driver’s license in Ukraine is quite complicated! It requires a series of written and practical tests. Ukrainian driving is known to be somewhat chaotic, which can also mean that your Ukrainian au pair will be used to paying attention to the surroundings and drivers around. It is always recommended that you discuss your driving needs with your au pair.
Foreign language instruction is mandatory in Ukraine, and four languages are taught: English, German, French, and Spanish. Nearly 90% of students choose to study English.

From September 2020 to March 2022, I took care of Carlota (1). I prepared breakfast, made bottle, gave baths, put to sleep and drove when needed. From September 2021 to September 2022, I took care of Aurora (2 months) for 1-2 times a week. I prepared baby formula and changed diapers. From February 2018 to October 2022, I took care of Leonardo (3 months) and Victoria (5 months) for 3 days a week. I prepared food, played, changed diapers, gave baths, and put baby to sleep.

I think that being an Aupair is a fantastic opportunity to get to know other cultures, meet new people and what better than to combine it with something that I really like, being in the care of children. From February to June 2021, I cared for Gabriela (4 months old). I fed her, bathed her, dressed her and played with her. From September to November 2021, I cared for Theo (6). I helped him with his homework, played with him and read with him. From December 2020 to January 2021, I cared for Valeria (8). I gave her snacks, danced with her and helped her with her homework. From September to October 2022, I cared for Santiago (11). I gave him snacks, played with him and helped him with his homework. From May to July 2023, I worked at a kindergarten with children between the ages of 2 and 5 years old. The experience I have had with the children has been so enriching and beautiful, it made me realize I love spending time with them, play with them, help them in everything they need, teach them and also learn from them try to understand the way they see the world and the life is gorgeous, also know their ideas and how they can be so imaginative and creative is amazing. Being next to them while they grow make me feel so proud because I can see what they learn every day. I know it is an excellent opportunity to have a cultural interchange knowing new things about USA, knowing new places, new people while I practice my English, being part of a family and know how the things are in an American family environment and also teaching the family about my Colombian culture, I know that it is an experience that will make me grow in all areas of my life.

I gave baths, dropped off at school, picked up from school, helped with homework, prepared food, took children to swimming club. From January 2018 to March 2024, I took care of Lucero (11) for five hours, five days a week. I gave baths, combed child's hair, prepare meals, sang, put child to sleep, washed child's clothes, and prepared milk for child. From September 2019 to March 2024, I took care of Yeandry (9) for five hours, two days per week. The reason I decided to be an au pair was the pleasure of embarking on an adventure in another country in a family environment, which I value very much. I consider myself qualified because I like this job because I have the experience and skills to take care of children. I enjoy spending time with them teaching them to sing, to identify letters as well as teaching them colors, teaching them values and also talking to them about God. First of all, I would love to become an Au Pair because I like working with kids. I am interested in participating in the US because I wanna experience all the holidays and traditions there first hand. I believe living with a family would bring me exactly that.
