All of our au pairs we place in the U.S. speak English, but for many, it is not their native language. Immersion in an English-speaking culture improves their language skills, although EurAupair screens au pairs to be sure their level of English is appropriate and will allow them to be functional on their very first day in the U.S. Our objective evaluation of the au pair’s English is provided to you as part of their application package, and you get a chance to interview your au pair prior to placing with her in order to ensure her English level matches your expectations.

I took care of Ambre from six weeks old to three years old between April 2022 and December 2024. My responsibilities included playing with her, feeding her, changing her diaper, and carrying her. I also cared for Lucien, aged four to five, and Juliette, aged two to three, from August 2024 to November 2025, on an ongoing basis. I was responsible for playing with Lucien, feeding him, changing Juliette’s diaper, organizing activities both inside and outside, and putting her down for a nap. Additionally, I completed an internship in a childcare center from September 2025 to October 2025, working with a group of children aged eight months to seventeen months. My responsibilities included preparing activities, changing diapers, and assisting the children during mealtimes.

I want to become an au pair because it is a wonderful opportunity to travel, discover a new culture, and connect with people in a truly unique way. Being part of a family abroad feels like the best way to really understand the culture. It also gives me the chance to step out of my comfort zone and learn more about the world and about myself. What I love most when I’m with children is doing creative activities, playing board games, or going to the park. I love these kinds of activities because they allow children to express themselves, bring us closer together, and when I do things they enjoy, it makes me happy. I was lucky to take part in a humanitarian trip to Togo with my class, where we helped renovate a school and visited an orphanage.
