Child Care Experience

I took care of children at IDEI English Institute from February 2022 to June 2024, working 5 hours every Saturday with children and teenagers ages 2 to 15, where I taught English, supervised them during classes and breaks, assisted with meals, helped keep the classroom clean and organized, played with them, and made sure they were safe, comfortable, and engaged. From March 2024 to February 2026, I cared for Salome Perez, an 8-year-old girl, helping with her evening routine, homework and school activities, preparing meals and snacks, organizing creative and recreational activities, reading with her, playing educational games, assisting with bedtime, tidying her room and play area, and ensuring her safety and well-being. From January 2022 to August 2022, I cared for Yadiel Leon, who was 1 year and 3 months old, three days per week for 3 hours per day, preparing meals and snacks, feeding and dressing him, planning educational and fun activities, reading stories, supervising him at all times, supporting his bedtime routine, and keeping his play area clean and organized.

I took care of Thiago Lopez Sarmiento, who was 5 years old, from April 2024 to December 2024. I was responsible for picking him up from school, taking him home, preparing light meals, and helping him with his homework. I also cared for Camilo Rey Acevedo, who was a newborn, from January 2020 to January 2021. I supported his mother during the postpartum period by helping care for the baby, including bathing, changing diapers, and feeding. I also helped prepare meals for the mother to support her recovery and well-being. From March 2025 to June 2025, I cared for Ana Victoria, who was 3 months old. I looked after the baby and assisted with age-appropriate motor and sensory activities to support her development.

I would like to become an au pair in the United States because it has always been my dream to move to the U.S. or at least live there for an extended period of time. From 2023 to 2024, I worked in a children's home in my hometown, where I realized how much joy and passion I have for working with children—especially those who face challenges in life or are disadvantaged in some way. Through my voluntary service, I gained a great deal of self-confidence and responsibility. As a result, I would describe myself as a mature and responsible young adult.

From 10/2025 to 12/2025 I cared for children ages 1-11 for 35 hours a week. My responsibilities included: leading age-appropriate, fun activities while parents dealt with administrative tasks, helping an epileptic girl socialize with the rest of the group, working on self-esteem (i.e. drawing), encouraging social interaction between the handicapped children, and creating a safe environment. From 10/2023 to 08/2026 I cared for Kenzo (8) on weekends and school vacations. My responsibilities included: cooking, playing soccer/badminton, doing outdoor activities, doing arts and crafts, taking him to the park or skate park, playing board games and gardening.

Joining the EurAupair program is part of a meaningful life plan: living this experience between the end of my studies and the start of my career, to discover a new culture and a different approach to education. Working in social work means accompanying people from diverse backgrounds, and becoming fluent in English is important to me. An internship in a pediatric ward and an experience as a day camp leader have helped me develop a real ease with children. I adapt quickly and know how to make everyday moments joyful and meaningful. Joining an American family would be a sincere commitment for me, approached with the same warmth and dedication I bring to every relationship that matters. My studies and internships have taught me to be empathetic, attentive and adaptable. I worked with different people and families, including those affected by chronic illnesses or disabilities.

I babysat Greta (5) from July to August 2025. I organized activities for her, took her to the park to play, prepared meals and did some light household chores. From December 2025 to January 2026, I looked after a group of 4 to 10 years old children at a recreational center. My responsibilities included supervising and caring for the children, organizing and managing activities that were appropriate for their age levels, ensuring the safety of the children, and supporting their daily needs.

Also, I have always been fascinated by the American culture and I am interested in experiencing it firsthand. I consider myself qualified for the role because I’m responsible, patient, calm and really empathetic with kids. As a sports instructor, I have worked with children of different ages and realized how much I enjoy being around them. Seeing children learn, improve and achieve something makes me very happy, which is one of the main reasons I decided to become an Au Pair. I have also worked with children from different countries, and the experience made me interested in learning about different cultures. I believe every child is unique and should me treated according to their personality and needs. I am responsible, organized and good at planning children's daily routines.
