Ukrainian couples usually have one to two children, and it remains a somewhat low average number of children per family in Europe. While families have become smaller it is still at the center of the Ukrainian culture, and it is quite common for grandparents to be actively caring for grandchildren and participating in their education. Parents tend to demand a better behavior, in public and at school, and can be perceived as stricter than the normal across Western culture.
Ukrainian au pairs will usually have child care experience through private babysitting of younger siblings and relatives, kids in their neighborhood, etc.
The procedure to obtain a driver’s license in Ukraine is quite complicated! It requires a series of written and practical tests. Ukrainian driving is known to be somewhat chaotic, which can also mean that your Ukrainian au pair will be used to paying attention to the surroundings and drivers around. It is always recommended that you discuss your driving needs with your au pair.
Foreign language instruction is mandatory in Ukraine, and four languages are taught: English, German, French, and Spanish. Nearly 90% of students choose to study English.

From March to October 2025, I took care of Aaron (7). I prepared food, took care of the baby's hygiene, put the baby down for naps, and played with the baby. From October 2024 to February 2025, I helped out at Garabatos Kindergarten with children from 1 to 7 years of age. I supervised, organized games, served snacks, helped with homework, controlled television time and accompanied the rest routine. From January to August 2023, I took care of Sofia (6). I ensured the safety of the child, did recreational and educational activities, prepared food, helped maintain daily routines, and informed the parent of any new developments. From July to November 2022, I took care of Mia (6) and Mariana (6) three days per week. I played with the children, prepared the children for bed, read books, and provided a caring and safe environment.

I babysat Lucia (5) from March to May 2023. My responsibilities included taking her to and picking her up from school, giving her lunch, preparing and serving snacks, checking her daily school activities, and guiding her with homework. From November 2023 to February 2024, I cared for Dulce, a 2-year-old girl. I picked her up from kindergarten, gave her lunch, helped with school-related activities, and played with her. We did various creative activities she enjoyed, such as painting and making crafts. I also got her belongings ready for the next day, made her dinner, and helped her prepare for bed. Currently, since September 2024, I have been taking care of Ammy, a 6-month-old baby. First of all, becoming an au pair exchange program participant in the USA is the opportunity to keep on working with children since that is what I like the most. Also, because I want to improve my English oral skills, visit new places, learn about a new culture and share my own with my host family. Secondly, I consider I am responsible, independent, attentive, honest, empathic, hardworking and lovely. All those personaly traits are bland skills I can use for taking care of the children and making of this experience the best one ever. Furthermore, all my knowledge and the experience working with children as a nurse assistant is the most valuable strength I have for assiting the children in any urgency or emergency. Also, I know how to give First Aid Assistance in any unexpected situation.

I changed diapers and helped with potty training, prepared meals and snacks, did age-appropriate activities, gave baths, brushed teeth, changed clothes, and established sleep routines. I changed diapers, prepared food and bottles, did activities, gave baths, changed clothes, burped and put the baby to bed. From March to November 2023, I helped out at Colegio Juan Jose Neira with children from 4 to 6 years of age. I get her up and dress her to go to the park, prepare her bottle and give her lunch, change her diaper, play with her educational toys, help her take her afternoon nap, and dress her in pajamas afterward.
