From September to November 2024, I took care of Anna (2) and Valentina (4) for twenty-four hours per week. I provided daily care, baked cookies, prepared food, assisted in the bathroom, did educational play, motor skills and supervised nap time. From April to June 2024, I took care of Emilien (9 months) for twenty-four hours per week. I prepared food, changed diapers, played, and put the child to sleep. From September to November 2023, I took care of Emilie (1) for twenty-five hours per week. I prepared food, changed diapers, sang nursery rhymes, read picture books, played, did simple puzzles and put the child to sleep.

I have always enjoyed taking care of children, sharing their daily lives, supporting their growth, and participating in their learning and development. Being with children, seeing them grow, encouraging them, reassuring them, and transmitting values and knowledge is an immensely rewarding experience for me. The joy of seeing a child discover something new, the satisfaction of helping them develop new skills, and the bond created through everyday moments are experiences I cherish deeply.
Child Care Experience
I took care of Shikai Ma, 1 year old, from 10/2021 to 07/2024, twice a week, normally on weekends, for 4 hours per day. I managed the child’s daily diet, patiently feeding him and ensuring proper nutritional intake. I accompanied him in various activities, including playing with building blocks, reading picture books, and engaging in parent-child games to enrich his daily entertainment. I arranged a reasonable schedule, coaxed and accompanied him to sleep on time, and ensured sufficient rest. I also took him for outdoor activities, exposing him to nature and teaching simple knowledge about the environment. Additionally, I assisted with personal hygiene care, including washing and changing laundry. I cared for Xueyi Ma, 6 years old, from 01/2019 to 08/2021, twice a week, normally on weekends, for 5 hours per day. I was responsible for the child’s daily routines, including washing, dressing, dining, and napping. I accompanied educational activities, such as picture book reading, manual creation, and outdoor exploration, to help the child learn and cultivate interests. I guided the child in developing good habits, including following a regular schedule, organizing independently, and practicing sharing and cooperation. I prioritized safety, monitoring both indoor and outdoor activities and identifying environmental hazards to keep the child safe. I also communicated daily with parents regarding the child’s diet, emotions, and learning progress, and coordinated parenting arrangements. I tutored Qiang Wu, 13 years old, from 09/2024 to 02/2025, twice a week, normally on weekends, for 8 hours per day. I assisted with homework across various junior high school subjects, answered questions, and expanded knowledge. I helped cultivate healthy study habits and guided him to follow a regular schedule. I also accompanied the development of interest activities, such as basketball, and guided reading and communication to enhance comprehension and reading skills. Additionally, I assisted in planning learning tasks and organizing daily necessities.

For me, this is not only an overseas experience but also a cornerstone of my career as an educator. I hope this experience will help me clarify my original intention: education is never a one-way output but a process of mutual growth. Firstly, I majored in Education during my undergraduate studies, giving me a solid professional knowledge base and theoretical background. Secondly, I have an outgoing and cheerful personality; I am gentle, kind, and empathetic, which makes it easy for me to establish emotional connections with children. I also have multiple experiences interacting with children. Thirdly, I have a wide range of interests and hobbies, many talents, and skills in various sports. From July to September 2023, I took care of Danna (6) for five hours, Monday to Friday. I prepared meals and helped with homework. From January 2017 to December 2019, I helped out at a Christian Church every Sunday with a group of children from 3 to 12 years of age. I taught, did games, songs, theater, music, and did social work for underprivileged children. From January to December 2018, I took care of Sharith (8) for eight hours on Wednesdays. I want to be an au pair because I love children. In my opinion, children are great life teachers. They have taught me to be happy, to enjoy life's simple pleasures, to have a pure and forgiving heart, and to live in the present. I want to fulfill my dream of traveling to the United States, learning about its culture, adapting to new customs, meeting people, improving my English, and, most importantly, providing unconditional support to children. I wish to participate in the program because it represents a unique opportunity for me to discover a new culture, practice my English, and have an enriching experience living with an American family. When I was 12, I had the opportunity to spend six months alone in Germany with a host family, discovering a new culture. This experience taught me a lot about myself, helped me grow, and allowed me to meet new people and experience a different way of life. I promised myself that if I ever had the chance to go abroad again, I would take it. So, I waited until I finished my schooling before pursuing the au pair experience. I have always loved being around children, and working with them makes me feel useful.
