I want to become an au pair because it is a wonderful opportunity to travel, discover a new culture, and connect with people in a truly unique way. Being part of a family abroad feels like the best way to really understand the culture. It also gives me the chance to step out of my comfort zone and learn more about the world and about myself. I especially enjoy spending time with children. I want to become an au pair in the USA to improve my English and experience American culture. I love working with children, and this program is a great opportunity to learn while doing what I enjoy. What I love most when I’m with children is doing creative activities, playing board games, or going to the park. I love these kinds of activities because they allow children to express themselves, bring us closer together, and when I do things they enjoy, it makes me happy. I was lucky to take part in a humanitarian trip to Togo with my class, where we helped renovate a school and visited an orphanage. For me, this is something that is close to my heart, and I look forward to passing it on in the future. I also did an internship in a nursery.

Lastly, I cared for a group of children ages 1 to 5 years old from January 2016 to January 2018. My responsibilities included reading, listening to children's songs, teaching letters and numbers, playing educational games and putting them down for naps. I've babysat Ithan (1) since January 2025 on weekends. I feed, bath, and dress him, play with him and do fun exercises with him.

Growing up in Colombia has given me a deep appreciation for my culture and language, which I want to share with my future host family. I took care of Thomas, 10 years old, from October 2022 to December 2022. My responsibilities included picking him up from school, helping him with his homework and reviewing what he had learned in class, preparing his lunch, and taking him to his soccer lessons. I would like to be part of the program not only for the amazing opportunity to experiance a new culture but for the opportunity to do this in a family setting as I will be joining a host family in an exchange of culture as well as doing this while providing a safe form of childcare for the family while experiencing life with them while in the program. When I was 12, I had the opportunity to spend six months alone in Germany with a host family, discovering a new culture. This experience taught me a lot about myself, helped me grow, and allowed me to meet new people and experience a different way of life. I promised myself that if I ever had the chance to go abroad again, I would take it. So, I waited until I finished my schooling before pursuing the au pair experience. I have always loved being around children, and working with them makes me feel useful. I am patient and a good listener, and, with the goal of discovering new horizons and immersing myself in a new culture, including its language. I knew that working with a host family would be the perfect opportunity for me.
