Latvia is a small European country on the Baltic coast but small is not a bad thing. It means that we are used to looking at things more closely - we polish, we angle, we untangle. We pay attention to the detail and as we all know the devil is in the detail!
Why to choose an Au Pair from Latvia?
- Hard-working. Our winters are cold, for 6 months of the year it is actually snowing or raining here. However, winners have to think ahead and be prepared for both easy and hard times. We are good at planning and improvising as well.
- Open-minded. The landscape is flat in Latvia, so we look far, we look wide and we don't like our vision to be hampered by anything closer than the horizon. We don't always smile but when we do, it comes from the heart!
- Cooking enthusiasts. Cooking at home is very common in Latvia and we say almost nothing about it just because we have learned that it is not polite to speak with a full mouth. Food is to be enjoyed - not to be discussed.
- English speakers. Most of us speak fluently in at least three languages, and English is one of them.
- Nature lovers. About 50% of Latvia is covered with forests, which means that we are a bit closer to the nature then the average European finds normal. We drill birch trees for sap, we pick all kinds of mushrooms and eat them, we go swimming in the lakes, rivers and bogs. And we actually love it!

I am eager to become an au pair because of my passion for working with children and my desire to learn about different parenting styles. During my time as a Special Education Teaching Assistant in a U.S. public elementary school, I realized the importance of family education. I’m particularly interested in understanding how American families raise and teach their children, which will be valuable not only in my role as an au pair but also in my own future parenting journey, . Living with a host family will allow me to directly observe these approaches and gain insights into what works best for raising children. I consider myself highly qualified to participate in the Au pair program due to my strong background in child care, my hands-on experience with children from diverse backgrounds, and the personal qualities I bring to the role.
