Latvia is a small European country on the Baltic coast but small is not a bad thing. It means that we are used to looking at things more closely - we polish, we angle, we untangle. We pay attention to the detail and as we all know the devil is in the detail!
Why to choose an Au Pair from Latvia?
- Hard-working. Our winters are cold, for 6 months of the year it is actually snowing or raining here. However, winners have to think ahead and be prepared for both easy and hard times. We are good at planning and improvising as well.
- Open-minded. The landscape is flat in Latvia, so we look far, we look wide and we don't like our vision to be hampered by anything closer than the horizon. We don't always smile but when we do, it comes from the heart!
- Cooking enthusiasts. Cooking at home is very common in Latvia and we say almost nothing about it just because we have learned that it is not polite to speak with a full mouth. Food is to be enjoyed - not to be discussed.
- English speakers. Most of us speak fluently in at least three languages, and English is one of them.
- Nature lovers. About 50% of Latvia is covered with forests, which means that we are a bit closer to the nature then the average European finds normal. We drill birch trees for sap, we pick all kinds of mushrooms and eat them, we go swimming in the lakes, rivers and bogs. And we actually love it!

Becoming an au pair in the USA has been a dream of mine since middle school. I really want to experience this adventure and create memories that will stay with me forever. I love spending time with children. Babysitting and helping with homework taught me to be patient, responsible, and creative. I think my studies and work experiences also make me a strong candidate. I have always studied in work-study programs, which means I learned how to be organized, independent, and adaptable. I want to join a cultural exchange program because I truly want to grow, learn, and connect with new cultures. I’m committed to personal development, and this is a meaningful step toward building a purposeful future. I’m a loving, responsible, and dedicated person, especially with children. Taking care of my nephew since he was a baby has taught me patience, creativity, and empathy. I also volunteered with children of different ages, learning to adapt, support, and create safe, fun spaces for them. These experiences have helped me build strong childcare skills. I’m highly motivated to improve my English, live an authentic cultural experience, and share the best of my Colombian roots with a host family who welcomes me into their home.
