Latvia is a small European country on the Baltic coast but small is not a bad thing. It means that we are used to looking at things more closely - we polish, we angle, we untangle. We pay attention to the detail and as we all know the devil is in the detail!
Why to choose an Au Pair from Latvia?
- Hard-working. Our winters are cold, for 6 months of the year it is actually snowing or raining here. However, winners have to think ahead and be prepared for both easy and hard times. We are good at planning and improvising as well.
- Open-minded. The landscape is flat in Latvia, so we look far, we look wide and we don't like our vision to be hampered by anything closer than the horizon. We don't always smile but when we do, it comes from the heart!
- Cooking enthusiasts. Cooking at home is very common in Latvia and we say almost nothing about it just because we have learned that it is not polite to speak with a full mouth. Food is to be enjoyed - not to be discussed.
- English speakers. Most of us speak fluently in at least three languages, and English is one of them.
- Nature lovers. About 50% of Latvia is covered with forests, which means that we are a bit closer to the nature then the average European finds normal. We drill birch trees for sap, we pick all kinds of mushrooms and eat them, we go swimming in the lakes, rivers and bogs. And we actually love it!

I guided the development of basic habits, including independent eating and washing hands before meals. I also provided interactive companionship through games and picture-book reading to support emotional needs and early cognitive development, and I carefully observed the child’s mental state and diet to promptly identify any physical discomfort. I cared for Xiaoxiao Wu, a 4-year-old child, from August 2023 to December 2023. From June 2025 to the present, I have been teaching Chinese calligraphy to a group of eight children aged 4 to 9. I teach correct pen holding, sitting posture, basic strokes, radicals, and simple character structures in a fun and age-appropriate way.
