Why to choose an Au Pair from Latvia?
- Hard-working. Our winters are cold, for 6 months of the year it is actually snowing or raining here. However, winners have to think ahead and be prepared for both easy and hard times. We are good at planning and improvising as well.
- Open-minded. The landscape is flat in Latvia, so we look far, we look wide and we don't like our vision to be hampered by anything closer than the horizon. We don't always smile but when we do, it comes from the heart!
- Cooking enthusiasts. Cooking at home is very common in Latvia and we say almost nothing about it just because we have learned that it is not polite to speak with a full mouth. Food is to be enjoyed - not to be discussed.

Child Care Experience
From February to August 2024, I looked after a group children ages 3 to 12 years old. My responsibilities included facilitating kids' groups, ensuring safety, leading games, helping with meals, doing activities with the kids, hygiene tasks, and cleaning up. I was a youth activity leader during school holidays looking after children ages 6 to 12 years old. My responsibilities included serving meals, helping with bedtime, waking up the kids, and doing activities during the day. I worked at a summer camp in July 2024 taking care of children ages 13 to 17 years old. Lastly, I worked at a ski camp in February 2025 taking care of a group of children ages 6 to 14 years old. My responsibilities included helping the kids with skiing activities, leading various activities, supervising meal time/shower time, and transporting.

I want to become an au pair because it is a wonderful opportunity to travel, discover a new culture, and connect with people in a truly unique way. Being part of a family abroad feels like the best way to really understand the culture. It also gives me the chance to step out of my comfort zone and learn more about the world and about myself. I want to be an Au Pair because I like to spend time with children and to gain more experience with childcare. I also want to visit USA and learn more about its culture and to learn more about living in the USA. From October 2023 to July 2024, I worked as a nurse with newborn to 12 years old children. My duties were: helping them giving baths and feeding them, if necessary, burnishing their teeth, stimulation exercises, painting. From January 2023 to August 2023, I cared Thiago, 4 years old. I accompany him and direct school activities, provide food such as lunch and afternoon snacks, ensure responsibility and respect for the child, engage in learning activities through games, puzzles, coloring, and physical activities, and accompany the child to play areas outside the house, including sports activities and outings to parks. From November 2023 to August 2024, I cared for Hellen and her brothers Alonso and Jhon (4-12 years old). I provide homework support, prepare breakfast and lunch meals, play games and engage in recreational activities, teach how to make desserts, and instruct bicycle riding. I also cared for Angelica; 5 Months old from July 2024 to February 2025. I worked Monday to Saturday, 8 hours per day. My responsibilities included doing stimulation exercises, visual games, and activities using her five senses for early stimulation. I also burped her, gave her a bath, changed her diapers, and accompanied her to vaccinations.

What I love most when I’m with children is doing creative activities, playing board games, or going to the park. I love these kinds of activities because they allow children to express themselves, bring us closer together, and when I do things they enjoy, it makes me happy. I was lucky to take part in a humanitarian trip to Togo with my class, where we helped renovate a school and visited an orphanage. For me, this is something that is close to my heart, and I look forward to passing it on in the future. I also did an internship in a nursery.

I have always liked cultural exchanges and experiences abroad because I think they help us grow and learn about different ways of life. Joining the Au Pair program in the United States is a great opportunity for me to discover American culture and share my own. One of the most meaningful experiences in my life was my two-month humanitarian mission in Togo, Africa.
