Why to choose an Au Pair from Latvia?
- Hard-working. Our winters are cold, for 6 months of the year it is actually snowing or raining here. However, winners have to think ahead and be prepared for both easy and hard times. We are good at planning and improvising as well.
- Open-minded. The landscape is flat in Latvia, so we look far, we look wide and we don't like our vision to be hampered by anything closer than the horizon. We don't always smile but when we do, it comes from the heart!
- Cooking enthusiasts. Cooking at home is very common in Latvia and we say almost nothing about it just because we have learned that it is not polite to speak with a full mouth. Food is to be enjoyed - not to be discussed.
- English speakers. Most of us speak fluently in at least three languages, and English is one of them.

From February to May 2025, I took care of Nashly (2). I prepared food, changed clothes, played and was aware of her daily activities. From December 2023 to December 2024, I took care of Yasli (7). I prepared food, took care of the child when the child was sick, took the child to school, changed the child's clothes and played with the child. From January 2022 to May 2023, I took care of a group of children aged 2 to 11 once or twice a week for approximately 12–15 hours per week, helping organize birthday parties, supervising activities on the inflatable games, and assisting with homework and studying. Since September 2025, I have been taking care of Gioele, who is 12 years old, for about 6 hours per week, mainly helping with homework and studying.

First of all, becoming an au pair exchange program participant in the USA is the opportunity to keep on working with children since that is what I like the most. Also, because I want to improve my English oral skills, visit new places, learn about a new culture and share my own with my host family. Secondly, I consider I am responsible, independent, attentive, honest, empathic, hardworking and lovely. All those personaly traits are bland skills I can use for taking care of the children and making of this experience the best one ever. Furthermore, all my knowledge and the experience working with children as a nurse assistant is the most valuable strength I have for assiting the children in any urgency or emergency. Also, I know how to give First Aid Assistance in any unexpected situation.

I have always liked cultural exchanges and experiences abroad because I think they help us grow and learn about different ways of life. Joining the Au Pair program in the United States is a great opportunity for me to discover American culture and share my own. One of the most meaningful experiences in my life was my two-month humanitarian mission in Togo, Africa. I cared of Kaila (6) from August 2023 to April 2024, 5 days a week. I was feeding and caring for the child daily, educating them, becoming the best playmate, and helping with household tasks.
