Ukrainian couples usually have one to two children, and it remains a somewhat low average number of children per family in Europe. While families have become smaller it is still at the center of the Ukrainian culture, and it is quite common for grandparents to be actively caring for grandchildren and participating in their education. Parents tend to demand a better behavior, in public and at school, and can be perceived as stricter than the normal across Western culture.
Ukrainian au pairs will usually have child care experience through private babysitting of younger siblings and relatives, kids in their neighborhood, etc.
The procedure to obtain a driver’s license in Ukraine is quite complicated! It requires a series of written and practical tests. Ukrainian driving is known to be somewhat chaotic, which can also mean that your Ukrainian au pair will be used to paying attention to the surroundings and drivers around. It is always recommended that you discuss your driving needs with your au pair.
Foreign language instruction is mandatory in Ukraine, and four languages are taught: English, German, French, and Spanish. Nearly 90% of students choose to study English.

I helped him with tasks such as learning letters and numbers, painting, playing, bedtime routines, daily routines, swimming, and preparing simple food. I worked at Fundación Avanzando with children aged 6 months to 16 years from March 2025 to June 2025. I supervised children, planned activities, cared for infants, attended to sick and physically handicapped children, and cared for multiple children of different ages. I also worked at Letras y Artes Kindergarten with children aged 2 to 6 years from May 2025 to October 2025. Child Care Experience
I took care of Thomas, 10 years old, from October 2022 to December 2022. My responsibilities included picking him up from school, helping him with his homework and reviewing what he had learned in class, preparing his lunch, and taking him to his soccer lessons. I took care of Jhojan Esteban, 6 years old, from May 2023 to September 2023. I prepared his breakfast, helped with his morning routine, and engaged him in games and activities such as painting, reading, singing, dancing, baking cookies and desserts. I also served him lunch and took him to the park in the afternoons. I cared for Mariam Lizeth, 1 year old, from October 2023 to May 2024. I prepared her bottle, bathed her, changed her diaper, prepared her lunch, and did activities to stimulate her to take her first steps. I also helped her take her nap and took her to different places to play. I currently care for Samantha, 7 months old, from June 2024 to February 2025. I get her up and dress her to go to the park, prepare her bottle and give her lunch, change her diaper, play with her educational toys, help her take her afternoon nap, and dress her in pajamas afterward.

I looked after Leon (6), Clovis (8) and Louis (10) form August 2023 to July 2025 during school holidays.
