Ukrainian couples usually have one to two children, and it remains a somewhat low average number of children per family in Europe. While families have become smaller it is still at the center of the Ukrainian culture, and it is quite common for grandparents to be actively caring for grandchildren and participating in their education. Parents tend to demand a better behavior, in public and at school, and can be perceived as stricter than the normal across Western culture.
Ukrainian au pairs will usually have child care experience through private babysitting of younger siblings and relatives, kids in their neighborhood, etc.
The procedure to obtain a driver’s license in Ukraine is quite complicated! It requires a series of written and practical tests. Ukrainian driving is known to be somewhat chaotic, which can also mean that your Ukrainian au pair will be used to paying attention to the surroundings and drivers around. It is always recommended that you discuss your driving needs with your au pair.
Foreign language instruction is mandatory in Ukraine, and four languages are taught: English, German, French, and Spanish. Nearly 90% of students choose to study English.

From 12/2023 to 06/2024 I cared for Sophie (1) 15 hours a week. i would change the diaper, bather her, prepare bottles, wash clothes and take her on walks. From 02/2023 to 10/2023 i cared for Natalia (3) for 10 hours a week I would take her to classes, prepare food, put her to bed and potty training. From 08/2021 to 09/2022 I cared for Sierra (7) and Aspen (5) for 30 hours a week. I took care of Juan José (11y), Ana (5y), and Sara (8y) from May 2021 to November 2021. I used to prepare their evening meals, including meals for the family. We often went to the park to play, and I stayed with them until bedtime, helping them settle in for the night. I also I took care of Isabella (10y) from October 2022 to February 2023. I helped her with school tasks, prepared snacks, and sometimes we played soccer together. I looked after Jacobo (1y) from November 2023 to June 2024. We had fun drawing and painting, and I also made snacks for him. We often went to the park to play or enjoy ice cream.

For the month of October 2024, I helped out at the Mario Gaitan Yanguas Hospital with children from 0 to 2 years of age, for 12 hours a day Monday to Friday. I helped in the pediatrics and neonatal area, placed medication administration lines, changed diapers, took vital signs, gave baths, administered fluids and medication and helped with bottle feeding.

It is the perfect program since childcare is essential for my future career. I have enjoyed working with children since high school, I love teaching and helping them.
