Ukrainian couples usually have one to two children, and it remains a somewhat low average number of children per family in Europe. While families have become smaller it is still at the center of the Ukrainian culture, and it is quite common for grandparents to be actively caring for grandchildren and participating in their education. Parents tend to demand a better behavior, in public and at school, and can be perceived as stricter than the normal across Western culture.
Ukrainian au pairs will usually have child care experience through private babysitting of younger siblings and relatives, kids in their neighborhood, etc.
The procedure to obtain a driver’s license in Ukraine is quite complicated! It requires a series of written and practical tests. Ukrainian driving is known to be somewhat chaotic, which can also mean that your Ukrainian au pair will be used to paying attention to the surroundings and drivers around. It is always recommended that you discuss your driving needs with your au pair.
Foreign language instruction is mandatory in Ukraine, and four languages are taught: English, German, French, and Spanish. Nearly 90% of students choose to study English.

I have cared for Enzo, aged 2, from June 2022 to the present, occasionally playing with him, putting him to bed, preparing meals, and bringing him to training. I looked after Fanny, aged 10, from February 2022 to June 2025, occasionally playing with her, putting her to bed, doing crafts, and helping with schoolwork. In July 2025, I cared for a group of kindergarten children aged 2 to 10 for one month, providing entertainment, preparing meals, assisting with dressing, housekeeping, putting them to bed, and supervising them while they slept. From May to June 2023, I assisted primary school children aged 6 to 10 by preparing food, helping them get dressed, supporting PE lessons and other subjects like math and science, crafting, and supervising them during a tournament. Additionally, I coached soccer for boys and girls aged 11 to 13 from July 2024 to September 2025, attending most weeks at least twice for 90-minute sessions, sometimes supervising on matchdays for around an hour, communicating with parents and children, motivating the players, and teaching them soccer skills.

It has always been my dream to become an Au Pair in the USA because I love both children and American culture. I want to improve my English, discover new places, and learn more about life in another country. I’ve always wished for younger siblings, and being an au pair would give me the chance to experience that and be like an older sister. I truly enjoy spending time with children, making them laugh, and helping them grow. Through internships, babysitting, and training, I have gained experience with children of different ages and learned to be patient, attentive, and creative. I worked at a preschool from July to December 2017 taking care of children ages 2 to 5 years old. I supervised their groupwork, did arts and crafts with them, supervised snack time and accompanied them to the bathroom. I worked at another preschool from September to November 2019 taking care of children ages 2 to 5 years old. I assisted the teacher with various activities. From February to July 2022, I was an assistant at a preschool taking care of children ages 2 to 5 years old. From August to October 2022, I worked at a preschool taking care of children ages 2 to 5 years old doing creative activities with them and assisting the teacher. Finally, I babysat Mariham (10mths) and Isabella (1) from February to December 2024. I did fun activities with them, helped their motor development, spent time outdoors, played and explored nature.
